ABOUT CAROLYN’S WORK
With a unique and controlled style, Carolyn has been painting for over 25 years, weaving fragments of her own experience into each composition. Through thoughtful combinations of color and gesture, her distorted figures act as visual invitations to engage with her work on a deep level—each piece containing elements of her personal story, emotional landscape, or moments of reflection that have shaped her understanding of the human condition.
Drawing from her own encounters with resilience and transformation, grief and disappointment, Carolyn creates abstracted figures that serve as both self-portraits and universal archetypes.
With intricate details and implied movement, she aims to create pieces that offer intrigue and beauty through relatable figures with raw emotion on display.
USING her background in drawing and sculpture, CAROLYN brings exaggerated dimensions to the human form.
In 2020, a more illustrative style emerged in Carolyn’s work. With a less painterly approach she created a new series trading dark backgrounds and skeletal figures for brighter palettes - morphing bodies and abstract shapes. This was a natural shift that began while using art as a coping mechanism during the early stages of the pandemic.
Carolyn continues to explore different directions in her art. In addition to original paintings and art prints, hand dyed linens are added to the shop periodically in small batches, with the next drop coming in late fall 2025.
Carolyn works for CETTE — a women-led gifting company based in North Carolina, where she leads creative and financial operations. She lives with her husband and hound rescue and loves spending much of her free time playing in the garden.
